Recap
After 7 of 9 Rounds in the inaugural Astro Leagues Tuam Astro Sevens Winter 2014-15 League Mean Machine were on top undefeated with 15 points from 7 games. Polonia Tuam were second on 14 points, and The Rattlers third on 13 Points. Spanish Armada were also on 13 points in fourth but had a game in hand on the top three having only played 6 games. Tuam Shamblers (11 Pts), The Warriors (10 Pts) and Ballinrobe (10 Pts) were in mid-table, placed 5th to 7th. Cellar Bar were in 8th on 7 points, but also had a game in hand, and then there was a big gap back to Baines on Toast (3 Pts) and Hi-B Utd who were pointless.
About Tuam Astro Sevens and Astro Leagues
The inaugural Tuam Astro Sevens League was held every Monday evening at Tuam All-Weather Pitches in Co. Galway, over Winter 2014-15 from December to February. There were to be 9 weeks of play, with each team playing each other once and the following season would be split into 2 Divisions. Long-term three Leagues would be run a year – Spring League, Summer League and Winter League. Astro Leagues provided Seven-a-side Soccer leagues in Co. Galway (Tuam), Galway City (Astrobay) and Connemara (Oranmore).
